Delhi's new sports stadium in Dwarka will be finished by September 2027:
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has stated that building on the much-anticipated Dwarka Stadium will begin by the end of 2024. This cutting-edge facility, which is expected to become a key athletic hub in the city, is currently on an accelerated schedule, with a completion date of September 2027.
Dwarka Stadium that had inaugurated by LT- Governor in Sep-2022:
The Dwarka Stadium project, inaugurated by former Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena in September 2022, is a milestone in Delhi's urban development. Covering 50.4 acres in Dwarka Sector 19B, the stadium will be developed under a public-private partnership between the DDA and real estate firm Omaxe. This collaboration will be DDA's first sports infrastructure project under such a model.
The facility will be centered on an international cricket-football stadium with a seating capacity of 30,000 people. However, the facilities do not focus just on major sports.
According to Delhi Development Authority (DDA) official :
"It will be an integrated multisports arena with an international cricket-cum-football stadium having a seating capacity of 30,000, indoor multisports facilities with a seating capacity of 2,000, a clubhouse facility with a minimum of 3,000 memberships, and other facilities for swimming, tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, etc.," according to a DDA official, as reported by TOI .
Stadium will be built at a cost of INR 350 crore:
The facility, which is expected to cost INR 350 crore, would serve as more than just a sports venue. It will have around 3.5 lakh square feet of commercial space, including retail spaces, a hotel, and office rooms, all available for a 99-year lease.
"Delhi, India's capital with a population of over 3.3 crore, has long sought a world-class cricket stadium. "With the construction of an international cricket-football stadium, we expect many international events to be held here," said the concessionaire.

New Zealand's women's cricket team advanced to the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 final after a thrilling 8-run victory over the West Indies. It's the third time they've made to finals! The semi-final, played on Friday, October 18, at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, kept fans on the edge of their seats as New Zealand's spinners led them to an amazing victory.
How New Zealand Won the Game:
New Zealand scored 128/9 in their innings. Georgia Plimmer was her team's leading scorer, with 33 runs. However, the real stars were New Zealand's bowlers, especially their spinners! Eden Carson was excellent, capturing three wickets for 29 runs. Melie Kerr was also impressive, taking two wickets for 14 runs. One of her wickets was the dangerous Deandra Dottin, who was playing extremely well.
Dottin smashed three massive sixes in one over, making the game extremely thrilling, but Melie Kerr caught her just in time. That was an important moment, and once Dottin was out, New Zealand took control.
The West Indies needed 15 runs in the final over to win, but Suzie Bates surprised everyone by bowling the last over. Even though the West Indies hit a boundary, Bates took the final wicket and New Zealand won!
