The legendary Chepauk pitch is back to its old tricks. Expect a "slow and low" surface where spinners like Ravindra Jadeja and Noor Ahmad will be lickin' their lips. For our Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders, 22nd Match Prediction, the toss is going to be massive. If you win the toss, you probably want to bowl first because of the dew factor later in the evening.
Average Score: 160–175
Key Factor: Spinners and variations from pacers like Jamie Overton.
Chennai is looking scary good. Sanju Samson just smashed a 115 off 56 balls—talk about a statement! With Ruturaj Gaikwad anchoring and Jamie Overton picking up 4-wicket hauls, they look like the team to beat.
Probable XI for CSK:
Ruturaj Gaikwad (C)
Sanju Samson (WK)
Ayush Mhatre
Shivam Dube
Dewald Brevis
Ravindra Jadeja
Jamie Overton
Noor Ahmad
Khaleel Ahmed
Mukesh Choudhary
MS Dhoni (The Finisher)
KKR is currently winless, which makes them like a wounded lion—super dangerous. The big news? Matheesha Pathirana has been cleared to join the squad! Facing your former team in your first game of the season? That's some movie-level drama right there. They need Cameron Green and Rinku Singh to go big if they want to silence the Chepauk crowd.
Probable XI for KKR:
Ajinkya Rahane (C)
Finn Allen
Cameron Green
Angkrish Raghuvanshi
Rinku Singh
Ramandeep Singh
Sunil Narine
Matheesha Pathirana
Varun Chakaravarthy
Navdeep Saini
Vaibhav Arora
In the 32 times these teams have met, CSK leads 20-11. At Chepauk, that lead is even more dominant. KKR’s last big memory here was the 2012 Final, but since then, the Super Kings have turned this stadium into a fortress.
So, who’s winning? While KKR has the firepower and Pathirana’s "X-factor" entry, Chennai Super Kings are the clear favorites. They have the momentum, the home crowd, and players like Samson and Overton in world-class form.
Our Prediction: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to win Match 22 of IPL 2026.

The cricket world has been left heartbroken after the tragic passing of 17-year-old Australian cricketer Ben Austin, who lost his life following a freak accident during a training session in Melbourne. The young and talented player was struck in the neck area while practicing in the nets, leading to severe injuries that ultimately proved fatal.
The heartbreaking incident took place on Tuesday evening at Walley Tew Reserve in Ferntree Gully, located in Melbourne’s southeast. Ben was reportedly preparing for an upcoming T20 match when he was struck by a delivery from an automatic bowling machine.
Despite wearing a helmet, the ball hit him in a vulnerable area near his neck and head, causing a critical injury. Teammates and coaching staff immediately rushed to help as emergency services were called to the scene around 5 p.m.
Paramedics from Ambulance Victoria administered first aid before rushing Ben to Monash Children’s Hospital, where he was placed on life support. Sadly, after two days of battling for his life, Ben passed away on Thursday morning, leaving the entire Australian cricket community in mourning.
The Ferntree Gully Cricket Club, where Ben had been a beloved member, shared an emotional statement following his passing:
“We are absolutely devastated by the passing of Ben, and the impact of his death will be felt by all in our cricket community.”
Club members described Ben as a cheerful, talented, and passionate cricketer who brought energy and joy both on and off the field.
Arnie Walters, president of the Ferntree Gully and District Cricket Association, said Ben was “a young man full of potential who loved the game deeply” and that his loss was “an enormous blow to everyone who knew him.”
The club also extended heartfelt thanks to Ambulance Victoria, local police, and the hospital staff for their tireless efforts to save Ben’s life.
Ben wasn’t just a rising cricket star — he was also a talented Aussie Rules footballer. He had played over 100 games for the Waverley Park Hawks Junior Football Club, where he was admired for his sportsmanship, dedication, and leadership on the field.
Both clubs have come together to remember Ben as a “kind, enthusiastic, and promising young athlete” whose life ended far too soon.
“Our Club and Community Have Lost a Truly Great Young Person”
In a deeply moving tribute post, the Ferntree Gully Cricket Club urged everyone to respect the privacy of Ben’s family as they cope with the unimaginable loss:
“To all of those who knew Ben and the joy that he brought — our club and community have lost a truly great young person who was developing into a fine young adult. His loss will be felt keenly for many years to come.”
Ben’s tragic accident has brought back painful memories of Phillip Hughes, the Australian Test cricketer who passed away in 2014 after being struck by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield match.
Hughes’ death had sparked major changes in cricket’s safety standards, concussion protocols, and the design of protective helmets. This new tragedy has once again reminded the world of how unpredictable and dangerous the sport can sometimes be — even during practice.
Ben Austin’s passing has touched the hearts of cricket fans, players, and officials across Australia and beyond. Tributes have poured in on social media from teammates, opponents, and even professional cricketers, who expressed condolences to his family and praised his passion for the sport.
While the cricket world mourns, one thing remains certain — Ben’s love for the game will always be remembered. He may have left too soon, but his spirit will live on in every young player who picks up a bat and dreams big.
